My name is Dan Fichtel, and I am running for State Representative in Ohio's 55th District. I am a lifelong and proud resident of the Buckeye State, and I believe that with libertarian ideals we can increase freedom and prosperity for all Ohioans.

  • The Drug War has failed - the evidence is all around us. Full legalization of marijuana can provide a safe alternative to the opiates that lead to addiction, and I will fight to move the state beyond just medical legalization.
  • Excessive and unnecessary licensing requirements stifle the ability of small businesses to get off the ground. I will move to reduce and eliminate such protectionist restrictions wherever possible.
  • State involvement in education is overzealous and unneeded. Every child is different. Every community is different. Parents and teachers should be free to develop curriculums that best meet the needs of individual students. Burdensome requirements like standardized testing, which distract from teaching subjects of real value, must be reduced or eliminated.

I'm no politician. My career has been spent providing various levels of technical support for a number of industries - my strengths lie in identifying the source of a problem and fixing it. The root of many of our problems is simply government involvement. By minimizing the overall impact of government in our lives, we can maximize freedom for all.

Ohio Libertarians Regain Ballot Access

This past week we received official confirmation from the Secretary of State that our ballot access petition was a success. If my nomination petition is accepted, you will see me on the ballot as a Libertarian this fall. This could not have been possible without the thousands of volunteer hours and donations.
