I am Lilly Taylor and I am running for Mecklenburg County Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisor in Charlotte, NC. I am lifelong resident of Charlotte and have been involved in activism and community organizing against the Atlantic Coast Pipeline, Dakota Access Pipeline and Duke Energy. I am passionate about conservation and environmentalism, particularly protecting North Carolina’s water and ecosystems. Notably, I made a fiery speech to my county commissioners earlier this year against Duke Energy’s rate hikes and coal ash spill, and the speech was very well received by the public. I feel strongly that the people and the planet should come before corporate interests, and I intend to use my position to fight on behalf of my community and its constituents.

“It is imperative that our local, state and federal offices be in the hands of people who are conversant with the real economic and environmental issues affecting all but the wealthiest Americans. Public policy must take into account the real costs, borne by the public, of contaminated water and dirty air. I believe that Lilly Taylor is committed to clean water for everyone, and will work to make the Mecklenburg Soil and Water district an exemplar of good soil and water practice for public benefit.”
