My name is Tazheen Nizam. I am a mother, wife, business consultant and community leader.  My husband and I have lived in Shadowridge since 2004 and have raised our amazing daughter here.  I volunteered at North County Lifeline as a mediator and in the EITC program. Our family volunteers at Operation Hope in Vista to provide meals to families who are temporarily food insecure. I am an integral part of the Interfaith community in North County and organized events to provide care packages to victims rescued from human trafficking.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Organizational Management. As a financial consultant, I help my clients with accounting, budgeting, projections, compliance, payroll and HR management.

My vision:

  • Promote a people-first platform where we listen to our constituents, have full transparency in local government, and community members are heard before decisions are made.
  • Community Safety.  As your council person, I will work with law enforcement and community members to develop an effective communication strategy, where local sheriffs understand community concerns and are able to respond appropriately. We must engage our neighbors and restart community and business watch programs to report suspicious activity. I will work to ensure the firefighters and paramedics have all the resources to respond effectively to emergencies, thus reducing response time and ensuring we keep up with the rapid growth of our community.
  • Ensuring financial stability of our city with responsible spending to support infrastructure and our changing socio-economic needs.
  • Bring a cost-effective and a sustainable climate action plan to reduce our greenhouse emissions and transition to 100% renewable energy by 2035.

My professional experience and years of community service are reasons to support my campaign. We need fresh eyes, new ideas and better communication between our city government and our residents.  I am not a career politician, I am a resident who wants our community to thrive while maintaining the values of Vista. I am running to represent Vista and this means putting people first. My campaign is people-powered and I am not beholden to any corporations or special interest groups, only to you, my supporters and the voters.

After the 2016 election and with the Women and immigrant rights movement Taz takes the time to invest in the community and listen while always fighting for justice through political action. Working with her on the North County Women’s March and other projects, I saw how Taz could bring people together and manage multiple projects at once.
