Maryellen Hicks graduated from Texas Women's Univeristy. She was the first African American graduate from Texas Tech Law School. She is a former Municipal Court Judge. Maryellen was the first African American of judge of the 231st District Court.
Maryellen Hicks is a Golden Life member of the NAACP. She also is a member of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority. She is currently the president of the Black Women Lawyers Association of Tarrant County. Judge Maryellen Hicks currently works as visiting judge mediator and arbitrator in private practice.
