I am running for City Council because I believe in Virginia Beach’s future in this country as not just a destination for beach goers, but a destination for business. Our infrastructure does not support our future, or those that work to develop our future.
Virginia Beach needs a reimagined mass transit system, and continued development of the roadways. We are capable of better supporting the low wage earners that make this city work. A bus that stops running before closing time doesn’t serve anyone but the tourists that don’t use the busses.
This city should be utterly free of discrimination. All people should be accepted here, not just those that look like us and speak in a pleasing accent. We should not allow any LGBTQ discrimination. The only people that should be discriminated against are those that speak hate, racism, xenophobia, sexism, and all of the many other faces that this fear driven need to oppress others takes. If the Klan wasn’t white they would have been identified as a gang and incarcerated many years ago.
I have served in the military for 20 years all around the US. During this time I have learned that humanity is ignorant and afraid, but I have also learned that we can all bind together in extremis regardless of background, color, and sexuality.
