I'm a High School Special Education Teacher, a mother, a wife, and a firm believer that Downers Grove is the best suburb around.  I hold a Bachelors Degree from Bradley University in History Secondary Education and Music, a Masters Degree from Governors State University in Teacher Administration, and a Masters Degree from University of St. Francis in Teaching and Learning with a concentration in English as a Second Language.

I never thought I would be running for any type of office.  When a friend and fellow Rotarian encouraged me to apply for an open seat on the Village Council in 2016, I thought he was crazy.  The more I thought about it, the more something about it spoke to me.   I was appointed on September 6th, 2016.  I then ran, and was elected in the Spring of 2017 to a 2-year term.

I'm running for a full, 4 year-term because this job is nothing what that I imagined it would be-it's actually better.  I have learned so many things, and continue to do so every day.  I have been able to connect with residents that I may not otherwise have made connections with and found ways for the Village of Downers Grove to support them.  For the past 2.5 years I have played a role in maintaining a balanced budget and keeping our AAA bond rating.  I look forward to being a part of Downers Grove's future. It is already a great place to live, work, and play. Together we will make it even better.

As a result of thoughtful deliberation and collaboration between council and village staff the following notable accomplishments have been achieved:

  • By unanimous vote, council approved a village facilities plan that fully resolves police department & village hall needs without increasing property taxes;

  • By unanimous vote, council rezoned downtown which will support new development while maintaining the unique character of our downtown;

  • By unanimous vote, council adopted stronger storm water regulations to better protect our residential property owners

  • By unanimous vote, council launched a regional peer jury program, adopted Tobacco 21, launched the Human Services ad hoc committee.

  • Council sustained and supported an ISO 1 Fire Department, CALEA Gold Police Department and a nationally recognized Public Works Department

  • Council achieved these accomplishments with a balanced budget, sustained our AAA bond rating and did all this without raising property taxes for operations
