(This is an exploratory campaign. Your financial pledges and contributions do not come out of your personal finances unless/until I officially register to run in my district.)

My name is B.G. Loper and I am exploring the idea of running for the House seat in Tennessee’s first district. I was born in Nashville, raised in West Virginia, went to Emory & Henry College near Abingdon VA, and currently am residing in a Kingsport apartment working at Eastman. I’m choosing to run because I see a house divided in our country. I think we are more alike than we are different, but that we have had our differences pointed out to us and used to keep a political party in power.

I am a college graduate with a bachelor’s of science degree in Chemistry. I have always sought to lead by example and to make peace and compromise in situations where others are unmoving. I’m independent because I believe the two party system has become representative of too few of their constituents. I believe in trying to reflect facts with as little bias as possible. I believe that government is made up of civil servants hired to make their constituents’ voices heard and to show that their concerns matter. I believe that government should better reflect the people that it represents. I am progressive but I do not support unnecessary spending. I support veterans and other public servants such as teachers.

Too many people have become disenfranchised with their affiliated parties and I am no exception. I believe that there should be an overhaul to both major parties. Allow me the chance to make your voice heard. Let’s take on the most staunch politicians and show them that being out of touch with the concerns of their constituents is no longer an option. Let me speak with you and let me strive to make it easier for grassroots efforts to take hold. Let me fight for real progress to be made on the many things on which we can all agree and to make it harder to get hung-up on the minor contentions. And most importantly, let me represent Tennessee’s first district with the pride of those that have the privilege of calling this area our home and the desire to improve and enrich it. Thank you for your time and your support.

Better Representation for a Better Society

  1. Reforming campaign financing and voting legislation:
  • Limit campaign spending to level the playing field.
  • Push for voting changes so voters don’t feel cornered into voting for someone they would rather not choose.

2. Bridging the divisiveness gap:

  • Remind ourselves that we have far more in common with each other than what others would have us believe.
  • Progress SHOULD NOT be stunted in every aspect when disagreements arise in few aspects.
  • We must elect representatives who truly represent us. We must tell Washington we refuse to elect people who have never had to face the same struggles as their constituents.

3. Healthcare:

  • Drive down prescription medication costs. No working American should have to worry about whether they will buy insulin or enough groceries to last them until their next paycheck.
  • Focus on increasing the efficiency of programs put in place or replacing them with more efficient ones. Decreasing the bureaucratic inefficiencies within them will go a long way to improve the quality and speed of assistance to those that need it/cut down on unnecessary expenditures.

4. Making voices heard:

  • Too many citizens feel as though the government doesn’t listen, as if their voices are unheard.
  • Too many citizens feel apathy toward voting because we’ve allowed the government to service political elites instead of people that really know what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck and face the reality that the majority of their constituents face...but NO MORE!

Let’s end the practice of electing people that don’t represent their constituents, who have never had to face the same reality.

Let’s make our voices heard. Our voices and votes will count. We want better representation.

Let’s push back at the idea that we can’t agree on anything. We can and we will make progress together as the UNITED States of America.
