As a product of immigrant teachers from the Philippines, my parents always stressed the value of hard work, being a lifelong learner, and giving back to the community. As a result, I have volunteered for years with my children and other youth in my church. I served for almost 10 years in sunday school, nursery, AWANA and Kid’s Church. Currently I volunteer on the Women’s Ministries Board and am very passionate about human trafficking issues.
Two of my children have completed and one child is a current D15 student. I have a vested interest in ensuring that D15 schools serves the needs of its students and teachers. As a board member, I seek to be accountable to the community as well as district staff. I believe that a child’s race, ethnicity, or income should not dictate their educational opportunities.
