Back in 2016, white supremacist fliers were dropped all over my town. Sheets of paper tied to pebbles that read “Make Pittsford White Again” were left in driveways for children to find as they waited for the bus.  Authorities wanted us to ignore these repeated, hateful acts of racist intimidation but instead, under my leadership, we organized hundreds of people in the pouring rain for a Unity Walk and then distributed over 600 yard signs across the county to make the point that WE STAND TOGETHER and DIVERSITY MAKES US STRONG. Well, some things have improved since then, and some things haven’t.

My name is Kendra Evans, and I’m running for Pittsford Town Supervisor, which in New York, is kind of like “mayor.” It's time that our local government in Pittsford reflect our shared values - too much is at stake in 2019 to uphold the status quo.  After nearly 80 years of one party rule, it's time to elect a leader who fully reflects WHO WE ARE as a community; a leader who wants to harness the potential within our town, rather than simply celebrate affluence and maintain personal comfort.

I grew-up in a small rural community. My dad was a volunteer firefighter and steel worker. My mom devoted herself to caring for me and my younger sister. I learned to work hard from a very young age, and I know the value of a good education.  I am the first in my family to attend college, and I went on to earn a graduate degree.

I am a teacher, small business owner, and now a program manager at a local university.  I support learners and job-seekers who identify as being on the autism spectrum.  I have demonstrated success in program development and oversight, personnel management, budgeting, and marketing. In addition, I serve on high level advisory boards in our local public school system--Vice President of the Education Council and as a member of the District Planning Team. I’m a dedicated community organizer who has spent the last three years listening, working, and building a coalition. I have the business skills, life experience and energy necessary to prepare our community for the promise and challenges of tomorrow. I want to serve, but I need your help.

Local government matters. Electing people who share your values lays a progressive foundation in our towns and villages that translates to nationwide change. By supporting local candidates YOU can positively impact the direction of our nation!

I am a leader who cares about people, not power. When I am elected supervisor, we will address the social and political barriers that have divided our town for too long. We will ensure that local government is accountable and accessible to all residents. We will invest in smarter infrastructure that protects our environment, accelerates our local economy, and creates opportunities to bring neighbors together. After years of an "insider - outsider" system, we will create a culture of belonging for all who live, work, and visit our town.

My opponent is part of the old guard, a career politician. He's been appointed to 4 of the 5 offices he's held since 1995. He’s the incumbent and already has over $40,000 in the bank. I’m running an efficient and agile people-powered campaign, but basics, like yard signs, t-shirts, and mailers, cost money.  We can win this if we have the money to get our message out to voters, to let neighbors know they finally have a choice this November! Please consider supporting us - a donation at any level will make a huge impact!

Your investment is not just an investment in me. It’s an investment in our Democracy. By helping people who share your values get elected to all levels of government, you have the chance to improve the lives of many and to influence the direction of our country.

My family wasn’t born in Pittsford; we choose Pittsford! Please help us let voters know they have a choice this November!
