My name is Phil Chang and I'm running for Deschutes County Commission.

If you are like me, you are tired of politicians grandstanding and pitting us against each other.

Polarization and ideological divisions across Deschutes County are wasting time and money. Deschutes County has missed too many opportunities because of this squabbling. We need leaders who will get things done.

I believe in the power of communities coming together to solve big problems. Ten years ago, I helped bring together environmentalists, the timber industry, firefighters and community leaders to find ways to protect our neighbors from wildfire and restore wildlife habitat while keeping the forestry industry healthy and creating local jobs. We collaboratively developed a plan to restore 250,000 acres of the Deschutes National Forest, winning a national award of $10 million to make the forests surrounding Bend, Sisters, and Sunriver safer, healthier, and more resilient.

This is the kind of collaborative problem solving we need in Deschutes County.

I believe we can rise above the politics of negativity and conflict.

I believe we can find win-win solutions to thorny problems like growth, transportation, housing affordability, and preserving the landscape that makes our home special.

We need a commissioner who can bring communities together, who can bridge divides and make sure that all our neighbors, from LaPine to Redmond and from Alfalfa to Sisters can prosper.

Your vote is important to me. If you are ready for new leadership, please vote Phil Chang for Deschutes Commissioner.
