Raised in Nevada County since 1971, I fell in love with Nevada City at 4 years old when my family drove up Broad Street for the first time. The words "It's magical" came out of my lips. I had instantly fallen in love with the picturesque little hamlet in the foothills.

I would then fall in love with Nevada City all over again at the age of 19, just days after my mother had died. I began working at our local grocery store, SPD, and while bagging the groceries of every single community member (everyone had to go food shopping sooner or later), I soon fell in love with the people.

This was the mid 1980s, and even back then I knew Nevada City was a special place.

This appreciation was underscored to me once again after spending years adventuring around the world as a young adult that Nevada City was one-of-a-kind.

It was then in 2004, after an 8-year stint studying filmmaking and suffering through life in Los Angeles that I decided to return home. To Nevada City.

Up to that point, I had had the great opportunity of always being able to pursue my dreams, whether they were successful or not. That’s a luxury in and of itself. It was then that I realized how truly fortunate I am, and began to turn my focus onto something other than my own personal pursuits and development. It was during this time, in 2004, that I grew increasingly concerned with the direction of our planet.

After much personal research, I soon realized that if I was going to be effective in any manner I would need to start at home, in the very community around me. It was then that I began my focus on keeping Nevada City wonderful ,and ensuring that its citizens have the community it wants and deserves. For decades Nevada City had been very good to me, and now it was time for me to give back.

This is my 3rd term as a Nevada City Council Member. My first term was from 2008-2012, and I’m finishing my 2nd term this year. While this position (and even that of Mayor) is all voluntary, I take the job seriously. I'm dedicated to this community's betterment, and am happy to continue if elected March 3rd, 2020.

I will be committed to continuing to ensure Nevada City’s historic charm, thriving arts and culture, its environment, and the sense of well-being this community has come to expect. I will continue to spearhead projects like the ones I have in the past: The Nevada City Farmers Market, the Boardwalk on Commercial Street & terrazzo lights, annual city-wide cleanings, the Goat Fund Me Nevada City campaign, Sierra Roots and the Homeless Extreme Weather Shelter, crowd-funding for local businesses such as Three Forks Bakery & Brewery and the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum’s Turntable. I will also continue to take a stand for a good cause when the need arises.

It has been a pleasure serving Nevada City and It would be an honor to continue doing so.

“We appreciate all that Reinette's done for the city. She is a co-founder and former manager of the popular Nevada City Farmers Market, organizer of community-wide cleanings, advocate of the Commercial Street Boardwalk, and farm-to-table events. Reinette’s “Goat Fund Me” campaign was cited as a “novel idea to fight the increasing threat of wildfires” in the Los Angeles Times. She is a recipient of a prestigious Lambert Award: “Her list of community accomplishments is long and growing longer each year. She has helped transform our historic community in ways that have put Nevada City on the cutting edge of the 21st Century,” said David “Sparky” Parker at the time. “The Famous Marching Presidents are proud to honor Reinette with our 25th annual Lambert Award.””

“I endorse Reinette Senum because she has created more solutions to the concerns of Nevada City constituents than anyone else. She thinks outside the box. She cares about our fire concerns, homeless issues, ensuring 5G does not enter our town. She wants our merchants to be successful and our town clean. She wants job opportunities and a thriving farmers market for sustainable and organic locally sourced produce.”

4 Days to Go & 3 Big Events This Weekend!

Hello Dearest Supporters,

I would like to send out a wholehearted thank you for your incredible support. It's because of your generosity we are able to keep this campaign on a powerful track. We are only 4 days away from the election and we aren't losing any steam, thanks to you.

If you live in the area, please join us for any of the below events. We have made a point to make them fun and lighthearted!

A unique outdoor fundraising event is set for this Saturday, February 29th, 10 AM – 4 PM, at 224 Church Street (intersection of Church and Main) in the parking lot of the former Women of Worth Thrift Store.

Massage therapists and alternative health practitioners are offering their wonderful services for the Massage-a-thon.  Therapists are bringing their tables and signing up for 2-hour shifts (up to 6 hours for the whole day) to open their practice up to the public this Saturday. While this is called the Massage-a-Thon, it is also open to all other alternative healing modalities such as acupuncturists, Chinese medicine practitioners, and energy healers.

Participating practitioners are generously donating 50% of their proceeds to the Reinette Senum for City Council campaign.

Reinette has been on the forefront of Nevada City’s wellbeing movement for the last 15 years, supporting alternative healing modalities, co-founding the Nevada City Farmers Market, bringing solar to Nevada City municipal buildings, providing an extreme weather shelter for the homeless, and initiating city-wide clean ups, to name just a few of her projects.

If you live in Nevada City, thank you for voting for Reinette this week.  We need her intelligence and energy on council so she can continue her good work and ensure Nevada City is a safe and healthy community for years to come.  If you or any of your healing associates are interested, please contact Jordan Sheffield, our Project Manager for this event.
