Pearland mom for a collaborative school board

I am the mother of a little girl starting Kindergarten at Lawhon, while working full time at NASA Johnson Space Center as an Epidemiologist. I moved to Pearland in 2014 because it's particularly diverse, affordable, and has good schools. Despite the diversity of the city, the local government doesn't reflect that well and there have been multiple troubling incidents within the school district that indicate trouble accepting that diversity. I would like to replace Mike Floyd as a progressive voice on the board, and represent the many unheard voices in Pearland. I would like to continue his work on LGBTQIA rights, mental health support, and racism in PISD.

In addition, we now face an unprecedented pandemic that has disrupted all aspects of our lives. Parents are afraid for their children's lives but also cannot afford to keep them home for distance learning. This is a major failure of Federal and State leadership that complicates the job for the school district. Pearland ISD has chosen to allow students to return to in-person earning as well as online, which is unnecessarily complicated for teachers and extremely risky for everyone in the schools. I have experience with hospital infection control and State-level infectious disease surveillance and outbreak response, so I understand well the concerns with this virus. I am uniquely poised to help keep our children, teachers, and community safe.
