As a member of the Washington State Tribes, a  water protector, educator, social worker, and mother, I am excited to announce my candidacy to represent the residents of the 22nd District in the Washington State House of Representatives.

The 22nd district has been on the leading edge of social justice and environmental stewardship for decades, and my platform builds upon the progressive legacy of these values long held in our communities. With your support, I will be the first female member of a Washington State Tribe ever elected to represent the South Sound in Washington State Government.

It's time we ensure diverse voices are heard within the walls of our state capitol. I am honored for this opportunity to serve on behalf of our constituencies and to represent the constituents of the 22nd District on the traditional lands of the Squaxin, Nisqually and Puyallup Peoples.

As a member of the Colville Confederated Tribe-Syilx, my family has lived upon and stewarded the waters of Washington State for thousands of years. I am the great great granddaughter of Chief Antoine of the Colville Confederated Tribes-Okanogan Band, and come from a long line of strong and resilient Indigenous leaders.

My parents, Patricia and Ron Breiler, both Colville Tribal members, reside on the reservation and are my cultural and academic role models.

Traditionally, leaders from our community served in the spirit of justice and peace. The leadership of my ancestors has inspired me to dedicate my life to public service throughout the state of Washington.

Currently, I am the Director of the Longhouse Education and Cultural Center at the Evergreen State College, where I promote community-based change grounded in indigenous knowledge of arts and cultures.

As the former Deputy Director of the Washington Indian Gaming Association, I worked with 26 federally-recognized tribes advocating for Indian communities before local, state, and federal governmental bodies.

Additionally, for over 6 years I worked at the University of Washington’s Indigenous Wellness Research Institute, promoting health and wellness in Indian Country locally, nationally and internationally.

When elected, I will bring my passion, fresh energy and unique perspective in healing our ecological systems, solving the housing crisis and addressing homelessness, stopping sexual trafficking, promoting sustainable economic development and investing in equitable education.

As your leader, and as a descendant of the first peoples of this State, I will fight to ensure our grandchildren have access to clean water, fresh air and a livable earth to call home.
