Kris McAlister was born in Springfield and has spent the majority of
his life living in and around the city. As someone who has grown up
in the community and whose family has lived in the area for several
generations, he brings a voice that is native to Springfield.

He has seen most of his years through its policies, history, and
culture.

Along this journey he has earned the rank of Life Scout,
the Kirsten Frohnmayer award, United Way's Community Voice award,
and Springfield Alliance for Equity & Respect's Human Rights award.
He completed the Springfield Chambers’ Leadership Workshop, and
Springfield CityLink,joining many current contributors to the betterment
of the community.

Kris chairs the local utility board's Budget Committee, as well as
two subcommittees of the county's Poverty and Homelessness Board,
on which he also serves.

He looks forward to continuing to be an active participant in Springfield’s
future, and the county's delivery on social and community issues.

Kris’ previous governmental and representative positions include
participation with the Northwest Network For Youth, Community Healthcare
Centers of Lane County, Nail Patella Syndrome Worldwide, Oregon
Genealogical Society (VP), BSA Troop 179.

He is currently participating in an advisory capacity on several local issues,
including poverty, homelessness, and healthcare.

With a background in advocacy, education, and problem solving, Kris
actively engages with the Springfield community, local government, and
numerous organizations to work towards improving the quality of life in
his hometown and surrounding area.

When he is not working as the co-director of Carry It Forward a direct
services nonprofit, he enjoys working on community projects, research,
camping with friends, and playing with his dog, Shogun.
