I am passionate about the Real Florida.  Our working waterfronts, our pristine beaches, our wildlife are all fantastic - but only if everyone has safe and easy access to enjoy it all.  That is why I'm running in this race - to strike the right balance between conservation, recreation, port development and easy access to our waterway, all while making sure we are spending our money in a fiscally responsible manner that will last generations.

Here is a little bit more about me:  First, I'm a mom of two boys, the youngest of which is an avid fisherman.  So I spend a lot of time in Old City Bait & Tackle and my garage constantly smells like bait.  Professionally, I am the Policy & Planning Director for 1000 Friends of Florida - a non-profit growth management watchdog organization.  In that capacity, I work with citizens across the state providing guidance on critical growth and development issues facing their communities.  I also advocate before the Florida legislature to promote legislation for sound community planning that protects Florida’s land and waters and quality of life.

Before that, I owned a boutique environmental law firm here in St. Augustine, enjoying the views of the Bayfront from the Treasury building, where my office is still located.  I have been practicing law for 22 years, I'm an AV-rated attorney admitted  to both in Florida and Maine, as well as the southern and middle districts of Florida, the 7th and 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and the US Supreme Court.   I was raised in Athens, Greece where my family spent significant time aboard our small sailboat, the Nike.  Then I moved to Budapest, Hungary before moving to Florida as a teenager.  Almost immediately after moving to Florida, I became involved with environmental causes including a door to door campaign to stop offshore oil drilling off the coast of Florida when Governor Martinez was in office.

Over the years, I cultivated a niche practice of public interest environmental law that boasts the preservation of 75,000 acres of the Babcock Ranch in SW Florida, stopping a Wal-Mart Supercenter from being built on the banks of the scenic & historic Anclote River in Tarpon Springs, blocking a sewage outfall pipe in Lake Worth, and saving 7 acres of coral reef from being buried in Palm Beach as part of a dredge and fill project for Reach 8,  north of the Lake Worth pier.  I am dedicated to serving my community.  I was on the board of the  City of St. Augustine Planning and Zoning Board for 6 years with the last couple of years serving as Chair.   I am one of the founding members and past-President of the St. Johns Association of Women Lawyers, an Everglades Coalition board member and I chaired the Agriculture and Environmental Council for the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce.  I frequently give presentations for CLE credit on issues ranging from Florida's Sunshine Laws to growth management.  I would appreciate your vote, please reach out if you have any questions!  And thanks for taking the time to read this.
