My campaign is based upon three core values: Access, Conservation, and Accountability.

Access: I look at the harbor in Saint Augustine as an underutilized recreational resource. We have all navigable channels federally maintained, but yet there is no public water transport that conveniently runs from either Anastasia Island or Vilano into the old city. With the unprecedented growth of Saint Johns County we already have insufficient boat and personal landing and launching facilities. We have magnificent ocean beaches with far too few public parking areas.

Conservation: Due to projected growth in St. Johns county we must manage our environment for the future. Our environment and estuaries are under attack, I will advocate to preserve open spaces and create sustainable open public use water access areas.

Accountability: We as members of the port commission have a great opportunity to revisit and amend aspects of the charter, identifying and updating areas in response to growth and change in our county.
As a member of the commission I will support and identify goals and further existing initiatives that meet the objectives for the commission. It is my vision to have the commission play an active role in the future development and sustainability of our waterways.

These are the key reasons why I have decided to seek a seat on the Port, Waterways, and Beaches Commission. I ask for your contributions to support my candidacy.  Please vote for me, Roy Jaeger to Seat #4 in the November 3rd election.

“I had the honor of serving as Rear Commodore of Power, St. Augustine Yacht Club under Commodore Roy Jaeger and following his guidance and vision, was able to institute a boat handling training program with over 20% membership participation. The joy experienced by those being able to spend more time on the water is something to be expanded. Crewing on a boat during the regatta of lights, an unwanted part of the panoramic spectacle was the long line of stationary headlights on the Vilano Bridge attempting to make it into town for the event. Attempting to get across the Bridge of Lions into town all too often ends in frustration. There is a potential solution to alleviate these sources of frustration, and I believe Roy is the best person to make this happen. Roy’s vision that that the only sensible and viable solution to current area congestion and resultant pollution is to utilize our waterways is an option whose time is long overdue. I wholeheartedly support and endorse Roy Jaeger for Port and Waterways Commissioner.”

“I endorse Roy because he's actually had experience running a port. Imagine that? He has a vision and passion for implementing a transportation system that utilizes our waterways to reduce the need for expensive infrastructure. We need professional, honest and creative leadership for the waterways in our district. Roy is the clear choice. Vote Roy Jaeger!”

Thanks to each of you

Thank You to all of you that supported me and my campaign.  I truly appreciate all of the financial contributions, endorsements, time and knowledge dedicated to helping me win and gain positive exposure for our local waterways.

It was a close race and I am proud that we received 47% of the votes. Unfortunately not enough to win.  I am truly disappointed that I will not have the opportunity to serve.

My reason to run for a seat on “Ports & Waterways” is to introduce and support initiatives that will encourage greater and more efficient public use of our waterways while protecting our environment. I will continue to do my part as a true advocate of St. Augustine beach and waterways.
