The New Hanover Soil & Water Conservation District board of Supervisors have the incredibly important job of improving environmental quality in New Hanover County. I have been an Associate Supervisor for more than a year (the current board unanimously voted to make me an Associate Supervisor in 2019).  For more than 18 years, New Hanover County has been my home and where I ended up building my small produce farm in Hightsville. My background is in environmental education, and I graduated UNCW in 2007 with an Environmental Studies degree. For nearly a decade I worked with New Hanover Parks & Gardens as a NC-certified Environmental Educator at Airlie Gardens, often partnering with local advocacy groups like Cape Fear Audubon. More recently I have worked on various small-scale produce farms and with the nascent industrial hemp industry. In my spare time, I participate often with the Cape Fear Food Council and Coastal Composting Council.
