To maintain Independence, we need more Independents!

Hello friends! My name is Mark Pawkett. I was born in 1975 and raised in the beautiful State of New York. Having moved to Oneonta in the fall of 1995, I attended Hartwick College where I received my Bachelors of Science in Music education. In 1998, I began working as a lecturer for the music department at SUNY Oneonta, where I still hold my position.  I am also a professional chef, having worked at the beloved Autumn Cafe for 20 years.  In addition, I manage the music booking at The Black Oak Tavern and run their Music Industry Internship program. In my down time, I write, record and play out with my Rockabiily band, The Mopar Cams.  My true love is my two beautiful children, whom I raise as a single parent.

I have always had an interest in local politics and the time has come to follow that dream.  With the current District 13 County Rep leaving office at the end of the year, I will be running to fill the seat as an Independent.  My primary objective is to listen to the people of my District and find out what they want Otsego County to do for them.  I will vote on behalf of the people who voted for me and what the majority wishes and needs, disregarding party lines. It's not what I want, but what my neighbors want.

I would also like to see an expansion of what the county can offer for our inhabitants. Let's figure out ways to increase the county budget without raising taxes so we can improve upon the programs we already have and add new aid for our citizens.  Healthcare, Education, Infrastructure, and Law Enforcement Reform are in need fresh new ideas.  Ideas that are non partisan.  Ideas that will help everyone.  Ideas for the common good.

Please consider contributing to my campaign and I look forward to working with everyone in Otsego County.
