Hello, my name is Nicholas Scotti and I'm running to be on the Nutley Board of Education this fall because I love this amazing community and want to see it live up to its fullest potential. Nutley has been my home my entire life, and I am a recent graduate of the Nutley Public School District—from Lincoln Elementary all the way up to Nutley High School.

I have seen first-hand where we as a Raider family are lacking and where our Board of Education can do better for all of us.

I have a unique experience not just as a young person, but also in growing up alongside my siblings who each require extra services due to learning disabilities—I understand how much families rely on key educational services such as Special Education—and I will work everyday to increase the quality of these services so that every Nutley child is able to succeed in our district if elected to the Board.

Our great Nutley residents deserve to feel like they are in the 21st century when entering our schools. This is why upgrading our system’s aging infrastructure is one of the core issues of my platform.

I promise to never stop fighting to ensure our taxes are being put to work so that we no longer have bathrooms that are generations old without any major overhauling, sweltering rooms in the warmer months, and auditorium chairs which have become a safety concern.

Moreover, Nutley families deserve a voice to represent them everyday, and hold the Board accountable on each and every issue. With that, comes the need for a proactive, not reactive board where there is transparency and direct communication with the public that goes far beyond the bare minimum of an occasional board meeting; A Board constantly engaging with the public via professional and regularly updated social media pages—not private or friends only accounts—for board duty from both our trustees, but more importantly from our Superintendent, so that residents can see exactly what is being done within and for our community by those we have been entrusted to serve it.

The leadership of the current board has failed to serve our children. There should be no victory lap for opening our schools so late when neighboring districts have been open since last September. Our youth has lost over a year of in-person life due to the inaction of this Board, and its time someone stand ups for every Nutley family that has dealt with the consequences of the Board's misgivings.

There’s a reason people are fighting to recall the Board President, and it isn’t because the board has been doing a good job, it’s because we desperately need a change.

I am asking for one of your three votes this November to be your voice on the Board of Education, and to serve you every single day.

Thank you so much and let's change Nutley together!
