Greetings family, friends, and members of the community.

Honoring the passing of my mentor and friend, Dr. Margaret Hill, I will be running for the seat she left vacant. My humble request is that you pray for me and support me as I embark on this journey.

I am a former SBCUSD classified employee and an active member of the community. I am currently a Higher Education Community Relations Administrator for California Community Colleges. Collaboration with community partners to improve educational opportunities for young adults is my favorite part of my job. As well, I am involved in a number of San Bernardino-based non-profit and community organizations.

Travon's story:

I am a proud product of San Bernardino City Unified School District having graduated from the city's prestigious San Bernardino High School. I started my career with the district as a Student Intern to assist with tech related issues, tutoring support, and special programs. My next job was ensuring that our students had nutritious meals every day as a cafeteria worker. I then took on the role of custodian, ensuring our students, staff, and community have clean facilities to learn. Following graduation from college, I was promoted to the district office for community relations. I supported the Equity & Targeted Student Achievement department in its efforts to remove barriers for our students and families. I also supported the district in creating Family Engagement Centers at all high schools.

As a result of his dedication to our students, families, and community, Travon was awarded the Board of Education's prestigious Golden Apple Award. Assemblymember Eloise Reyes awarded Travon the 30 under 30 most influential award later that year.

I then took my passion for our community to work at the state level with the California School Boards Association. There, I supported elected school board members throughout San Bernardino County. In addition, I worked with members of the state legislature to advocate for educational issues like Full and Fair Funding, mental health, and local control.
