Why you should support Alameda Renters Coalition

Update as of June 11, 2017:

The landlord and property owner lobby has begun collecting signatures to overturn Just Cause and other recently-won tenant protections (including all eviction controls, all relocation fees, even the 5% trigger!) through paid petition circulators who are falsely claiming that the referendum is for "reasonable rent control" and fair rents. These are blatant alternative facts

Don't Sign the Petition!

Please donate today to the Alameda Renters Coalition to cover printing costs, a possible mass-texting service, and other ways to counter the landlord petition drive.

Don't let them trick you. Be warned that some individual petition circulators are misrepresenting themselves to be Alameda Renters Coalition members. The Alameda Renters Coalition is not circulating a petition at this moment. Not only are these petition circulators lying, this is a violation of the California Election Code Section 18600 and a criminal misdemeanor. If you were deceived or would like to report false statements made, please call our Help Line (510) 473-2332 or send us a message via Facebook or email. We can help nullify your signature and file a complaint with the proper authorities.

Thank you for all you do to keep Alamedans in their homes!

  • Jason Buckley endorsed

“There's a serious rent crisis in Alameda and we are up against a very wealthy minority who want to keep it that way at the expense of renters, who are a majority of Alamedans. They might have the money, but we have the power of the people and the truth on our side.”

  • Eric Strimling endorsed

“My neighbors were evicted for no cause. My other neighbor had his adult daughter and baby granddaughter move back in with him because they were priced out of Summer House.”

“Rent control is good for healthy communities, it increases the value of non-rental land (homes and businesses) because it builds a diverse, strong, and happy community. When renters know they don't have to live in fear of getting evicted and know that landlords will not gouge them to try to maximize profits from their home they can live a healthy happy life”
