Yesterday was a decisive moment in the fight for America's health care.
Democrats did their part, especially those in red states. But ultimately, we needed someone across the aisle to heed their conscience and stop the madness that was the skinny repeal.
Three Senators did; John McCain, Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins, stood up and said no. They said no to 16 million people losing their health care, particularly minorities. No to leaving rural communities without medicaid provisions. No to defunding Planned Parenthood.
No to higher premiums and less coverage.
These Republican Senators deserve our respect and our gratitude. Let's thank them for what they've done. Please take a minute to call them today.
This bill would have had a real negative impact in my life, and we appreciate what [TARGET] did today. I hope we can count on [TARGET] to continue to oppose McConnell's campaign against health care, and to be a voice of reason and moderation among conservatives.
Thank you for your hard work and for faithfully representing your constituents. We won't forget where you stood today.
Senate Republicans unveiled today the details of their version of a Health Care bill. Written entirely behind closed doors, this is the first time anyone outside of Mitch McConnell’s close circle has laid eyes on it. The reason? The bill slashes millions in Medicaid subsidies in order to cut taxes on the wealthiest Americans.
Next, the GOP will try to rush it through the Senate before the Congressional Budget Office has time to analyze it, to avoid debating and improving it. McConnell is hoping to get it to a vote before the July 4th recess. We can’t let that happen.
Please take a moment now to call your Senators and let them know we need public hearings, we need debate, and we need a CBO analysis of the bill.
I'm calling to let [TARGET] know that I expect them to do everything in their power to prevent the GOP from passing their Health Care bill without proper analysis or debate. We need to have a say on something that will affect all of our lives.
Is [TARGET] committed to giving the public a meaningful chance to read and understand the final TrumpCare bill before voting on it?
I expect [TARGET] to refuse to vote for this bill, and do everything in their power to stop it. Otherwise, we'll see you at the ballot box.
Even if your Senators are Democrats, you can make your voice heard on Trumpcare. We've added a script you can use to call your Senators below.
I'm calling to urge Senator [TARGET] to withhold consent from Senate activities in order to obstruct the disastrous Republican healthcare bill currently being pushed through the Senate with no public exposure or vetting process.
In addition, I would like Senator [TARGET] to plan a filibuster by amendment with other Senate Democrats during the reconciliation vote.
Your constituents are counting on you to preserve their coverage and their wellbeing. Thank you for fighting for us.
[If you have a health condition, an ACA coverage story, or any other thoughts, this is a great time to talk about those as well.]
The CBO has finally published its analysis of the second version of the AHCA, after the changes that got it approved on the House floor.
The bottom line is 23 million people will lose their health insurance.
Please tweet about this and get the word out. For more facts, you can read the full CBO analysis by clicking the link below.
We're gearing up to take the fight to the Senate. Stay tuned!
As you know, while the House passed the American Health Care Act, their counterparts in the Senate have said it will take months to go through their legislative process.
But that doesn’t mean we can rest.
You can read more about the expected changes to the bill from this Axios article -- but their main takeaway is that the House version of the bill is far from “dead on arrival.”
That means we must take every moment to make sure our Senators are hearing us loud and clear -- we won’t accept the repeal of Obamacare.
We won’t accept throwing millions of people off of their health insurance. We won’t accept raising costs for seniors. And we won’t accept putting the lives of those with pre-existing conditions in jeopardy.
Please call your Senators to let them know we must protect, strengthen, and improve Obamacare.
After you make your call, please click the “got through” button and leave a comment!
I won’t accept throwing millions of people off of their health insurance.
I won’t accept raising costs for seniors.
And I won’t accept putting the lives of those with pre-existing conditions in jeopardy.
Please let [TARGET] know that if he votes for a bill in the Senate that makes it harder to get affordable care in this country or repeals Obamacare protections, I won’t just vote against him, I’ll actively campaign against him.
Thanks for your time.
Obamacare has saved millions of lives. We’re a group of concerned citizens hellbent on protecting and strengthening it. Help us stop Trump and the GOP from repealing it and kicking 24 million Americans like us off their healthcare plans. Join us and take action today!
