VOTE February 15, 2022 (Primary) & April 5, 2022 (General Election)

My family and I have resided in Eau Claire since the fall of 2007. My wife is a physical education teacher at Northwoods Elementary School and my two children attend South Middle School. I’m a Full Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. I was appointed to the ECASD School Board in May 2020 and re-elected to serve a 1-year term in April 2021. As a school board commissioner, I have advocated on behalf of both students and teachers when tasked with considering proposed policies and requests from district administrators and the community at large.

If elected to serve on the ECASD school board for a 3-year term, my efforts will center around the following areas (also continuing to be responsive to immediate areas of concerns that present themselves):

District Administrative accountability on meeting academic standards; supporting & promoting best practices of teachers and staff in the district; fiscal responsibility of resources.

Concerted efforts to address loss instructional time (for all students), additional learning opportunities (marginalized students and low performing students), and professional development (for teachers/re-imagining the utilization of PD Wednesdays).

Advocate for additional staffing/training and resources to assist families, students, and ECASD staff with mental health and self-care initiatives (i.e., Care for the Caregiver programs, sustainable support systems).

Authentic examination of school district’s academic achievement gaps.

Authentic examination and policy implementation to address both District wide and individual school climate concerns centered around EDI.

I would like to see district-wide training/professional development to increase access and reduce stigmatization for the learning experiences of students with disabilities.

Thank you in advance for considering casting a vote on my behalf.
