I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 9, in the 2020 election cycle. This is the court of last resort for all criminal appeals in Texas. As a state district judge, I have the opportunity to run for a higher court while continuing to preside over my current bench. The job requires a jurist who has experience, diligence, independence, and integrity. With two decades of criminal legal and judicial experience, and a strong track record, I would be honored to serve our state in this role.
During my tenure as Judge of the 292nd Criminal District Court, I have earned a reputation for being fair, hardworking and innovative. I was selected by my judicial peers to serve as the Presiding Judge of the Criminal District Courts in Dallas County, and I have earned high marks from those who practice in my court in the Dallas Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Poll.
I have personally tried or presided over every type of case the Court of Criminal Appeals hears. As an accredited lecturer, adjunct professor, and former member of the College of the State Bar of Texas, I will call upon my passion to study the law to make impartial, informed, and well-reasoned decisions. These decisions will be fortified by my hands-on, in-the-trenches experience. I will also maintain an attitude of service and humility. Serving as a judge is an awesome responsibility, and I remind myself every day that our courts belong to the people.
