The people of House District 94 deserve a representative who will Stand up, and Fight Back. My name is Elijah Manley, and I hope to be that representative. I am a gay black man who grew up on Section 8 housing, food stamps, and medicaid —  right here in the 94th district. I went to our schools, breathed our air, and walked our streets all my life. I am running because in a time where the school-to-prison pipeline is growing, and democracy is in danger-- we need a working class voice that will fight for our children, not the well-connected. I am running against an incumbent who is well funded by wall street and big corporations.

I've always been told— "wait you turn" and "you're too young."  The truth is— young people like myself are not supposed to be running for office.  That's what they think, at least. A lot of powerful people are scared of a new generation of young people ready to transform our political system. We need a Green New Deal in Florida to tackle the emergency of climate change. We need tuition-free higher education. We need Housing for All. We need a fully and equitably funded public education system. We need free public transportation. We need criminal justice reform. All of these things can be achieved by taxing the wealthy. This campaign is about restoring dignity to the state of Florida. As long as thousands of people go hungry and homeless, Florida will continue to be unequal. The promise of America belongs to everyone. Let's go take it back.
