Economic Sustainability

Our county must support long-term economic growth without negatively impacting social, environmental and cultural aspects of the community. The approach must be multi-facited in tourism, agriculture and energy to strengthen District 9 and our County's economy. Covid 19 has had a greater impact to our economy due to a lack of economic diversification on Hawaii Island.  The current state of events will actually allow us to shape the future of tourism, agriculture and make the people who live and work in Hawaii our priority.

Proactive Policy

Hawaiʻi County Council must have a proactive approach. Proactive long term approaches to invasive species, water quality and affordable housing has to be a priority over reactive short sighted legislation.  We must have action plans in place to address the issues before a situation becomes a source of confrontation or crisis.  We must be cognizant of infrastructure when developing legislation so the energy spent creating policy is effective and efficient not only in the scope of todays issues but also to create long term stability.

Stewards of Hawaiʻi

We must be good stewards of the air, water, land and culture of Hawaiʻi. The natural resources of Hawaiʻi Island are a treasure not to be used haphazardly, but to be cultivated and protected. We must support Hawaiian cultural heritage in our actions.  Collaboration, respect and dignity must be the way of life and carried through in the actions of our government. The health of the land and the people is a value that must be first and foremost in the actions of government. We must foster a valuable society for our future generations.
