Antonio is a proud, lifelong resident of Antioch and a product of AUSD schools K-12 so he knows first-hand what works and what doesn’t to get our kids ahead. In fact, he is a case study for what Antioch's kids can acheive when AUSD embraces innovation and equity. Antonio comes from a working-class background and graduated from the first class of Dozier-Libbey Medical High School. Thanks in large part to the quality education that he received at DLMHS, Antonio went on to earn a degree in Economics from Stanford University, the first member of his family to go to college. Now, he teaches leadership skills to youths and works in the UCSF Pediatrics Department at San Francisco General Hospital on projects that directly impact the health and well-being of children.
Antonio's story should not be unique. It proves that Antioch is capable of providing an education that meets and exceeds the highest standards, but too many of our students don’t get one. Antonio is committed to prioritizing those kids who's needs have not been met by the district—especially our Black, Latinx, low-income, and homeless students. ALL of our students deserve the best education that we can offer and as your representative on the school board Antonio Hernandez will fight to make that a reality.
