In 2016, there was over $3 million donated from PACs to candidates in the general election for state legislative offices. There were over 220 PACs helping candidates win their contests.
Each of the PACs wants to associate their campaign contribution with their issue. This is the same for the Iowa Trails & Bike PAC. We pool your campaign donations, give them to candidates who support trails and bike policy. The pooled campaign donations help them get elected to office. Unlike a donation directly from you, we send the candidate a letter with the contribution telling them this contribution comes from trails & bike supporters.
Believe it or not, 54% of PACs who contributed to current incumbent candidates operate on a budget between $1,000 and $10,000. If Iowa Trails & Bike PAC can raise enough money to make 5 to 15 contributions to candidates, averaging $500 each, then we will be noticed.
