Quality education is the foundation of healthy communities.

I am declaring my run for Pasadena Unified School District Board, representing the students and their families from district one. As successful products of public education my entire family are all advocates for accessible quality free schooling. However, being dyslexic, I know firsthand the importance of learning choices and special programs that benefit the future achievements of the entire student body.

With a kids first philosophy, my time serving as an Altadena Town Council member, both as chair and member of the education committee, has allowed me to develop relationships and alliances with schools, individuals, groups and organizations throughout Altadena, Pasadena, Sierra Madre and Los Angeles County that will be valuable to serving on the PUSD board.

As a current PUSD parent, volunteer and as a public-school advocate I have a clear understanding of the challenges our educational system faces today, along with the future goals we strive to achieve. This experience gives me the ability to hit the ground running once elected.

I value the opportunity in becoming a member of the Pasadena Unified School District Board of Education. Let’s make every child visible, so we can light their way to success.

As a forward thinker open to the optimistic possibilities of the future I remember the basics as a foundation.

Resources: Providing access and availability to all resources that our kids need to graduate. What ever the individual needs or requirements of any child, then we need to be able to supply those resources for their success.

Readiness: Its not just about providing the tools and resources alone, but are they ready and how can we make sure our students are fully prepared and have the experience to manage their own success and future. It makes no sense to have the right tools if you don’t know how to use them. Be ready.

Responsibility: We need to all be held accountable and responsible for the future successes and failures of our student body. As board members, teachers, administrators, parents, we need to understand what it all means, what we learn, how we learn, what we offer and knowing when to change for the advantage of our students. We always need to be responsible for our own actions on every level. Be the example we want our students to follow.
