Growing up poor in the Sycamore area, politicians rarely came to my neighborhood. Being City Clerk doesn’t mean sitting in an office. It’s opening City Hall to our youth and engaging students in the civic process. It’s recognizing many residents can’t make 7pm meetings and finding alternatives so everyone’s voice is heard.

After graduating from UC Berkeley with an MA in Public Policy, I came back to serve Antioch. Currently, I’m a member of the AUSD Board, where I’ve created a student advisory group, fought to protect students’ rights and broaden public participation in school matters.

I want to use these experiences to build an effective, 21st-century clerk’s office that engages everyone in the democratic process.
